2008 Schedule of Events Friday, December 5 1-5 p.m. – Chip Off the Block Ice Carvings (town square near gazebo) 3 p.m. – Ribbon Cutting Ceremony (town square) Hours to be determined – Visit Santa at his house (town square) 3-9 p.m. – Exhibitor tents open - $1 admission (east and west sides of town square) 3-9 p.m. – Food Court open (KC Hall on north side of square) 3-9 p.m. – Anderson Mansion/Macoupin County Historical Society Museum Christmas Open House decorated with the theme, “Silver and Gold.” Bake sale inside the home. Also serving meals until 8 p.m. $3 admission for adults; $1 for children under 12. Price includes all outside buildings. Ride the free trolley, which departs from the town square every 30 minutes. 3-9 p.m. – Trolley “stop and drop” rides available for narrated tours – 30-minute round trip (departs from town square) 4-8 p.m. – Comet the Reindeer (town square) 4:30-8 p.m. – Homemade soup & chili supper ( United Methodist Church) 5-8 p.m. – Holly Jolly Playhouse for the youngsters (United Church of Christ) – small fee 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Classic Carriage rides available (town square) - $3 adults; $1 for ages 6 & under. Lapsitters free. 6 p.m. – Sing Along with the Grinch led by Dan St. Onge, Grinch played by Jonathan Milton (Town square gazebo) 6-6:45 p.m.–“Come Home for Christmas” Music-Drama ( Emmanuel Baptist Church) 6 p.m. Cowboy Christmas Puppet Show (Church of the Nazarene) 6 p.m. – Prairie Sound Barbershop Quartet (United Methodist Church) 7 p.m. – Hand Bell Choir concert ( United Methodist Church)
Saturday, December 6
9 a.m. – Mistletoe Mile walk/run, 1 mile course, sponsored by Carlinville FitClub; start at north end of courthouse. Dress warmly, wear comfy shoes. Participation prizes. Cancelled in case of inclement weather. 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.– Chip Off the Block Ice Carvings (town square near gazebo) 9 a.m.-5 p.m. – Pony Rides (southwest corner of square) $3 per ride 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. – Exhibitor tents open - $1 admission (east and west sides of town square) 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Anderson Mansion/Macoupin County Historical Society Museum Christmas Open House decorated with the theme, “Silver and Gold.” Bake sale inside the home.
