Christmas Market History

Carlinville hosted its first Christmas Market on the town square in December 1990. Now entering its 19th year, the Market has retained its earlier charm, with large tents enclosing the wares of talented artisans and food vendors, horse-drawn carriage rides, tours of local historic sites, costumed carolers and street performers, activities for the children, all set amid the quaint charm of the historic town square. The Market gets better each year, and attracted more than 10,000 visitors in 2005, becoming the county's only million-dollar event.
