Carlinville Christmas Market’s new holiday cookbook now on sale

CARLINVILLE, ILL. – The Carlinville Christmas Market Foundation has had its second cookbook, entitled “Holiday Traditions,” published and delivered to its office in Carlinville. The book is filled with more than 150 recipes and related cooking tips and is now on sale at several Carlinville locations.

It sells for $17, including tax, and is available at The Book Shelf (217-854-4040), Body Depot, Main Street Florist, Market on the Square, Michelle’s Pharmacy, the Carlinville Chamber of Commerce office, Carlinville Area Hospital Auxiliary’s “Retail Therapy” gift shop, and the Carlinville Public Library.

“These recipes are brand new to us and were not included in our first cookbook in 2009,” said CCMF President Debbie Zilm. “There is a wide variety of recipes, and they all connect in some way to the upcoming holidays, just like the title says.”

People who contacted The Book Shelf earlier to reserve the new recipe book may stop at the shop any time to pick up their copies. Cash is always accepted; checks should be made out to the Carlinville Christmas Market. Out-of-towners who want to have the book shipped to them should send their checks for $20.95 per copy -- $17 for the cookbook and $3.95 for shipping – to The Book Shelf, South Side Square, Carlinville, IL 62626.

“We wanted the cookbook to be on the shelves a month or two before this year’s Christmas Market,” said Zilm. “We’re thrilled that the book was printed and available sooner than the October 28 date that we expected. This gives our local residents an even better chance to review it and buy it before the big sales push that comes with the festival in early December. It makes an excellent Christmas gift, especially for collectors, and is nice to have right now for some new holiday cooking ideas as we get closer to Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s.”

Money from cookbook sales will go toward expenses for this year’s festival, which takes place on December 2, 3, and 4, or be applied to the 2012 Christmas Market. The Carlinville Christmas Market Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization staffed by volunteers who receive no salary for their work.
