Christmas Market Foundation selects designated charities
for 2007
The Carlinville Christmas Market Foundation (CCMF) announced
that it has selected six area charitable organizations
to share in the proceeds from its Christmas
Market festival in December 2007.
“We had eleven deserving charities send us applications,” said CCMF
President
Lea Hudson, “so it was difficult for us to narrow the list. But we had
to for the sake of donating a respectable amount of money to each. After much
consideration and discussion, the Foundation’s board of directors chose
six organizations in and around Carlinville.”
The
following charities will share in the proceeds from
the 18th annual Carlinville Christmas Market that will
take place on December 7, 8, and 9:
- The
Blackburn College Chapter of Habitat for Humanity
- Good
Samaritan Ministries (Carlinville Food Pantry)
- Macoupin
Center for the Developmentally Disabled (MCDD)
- Macoupin
County Cares, Inc.
- Macoupin
Military Support Group
- Northwestern
Food Pantry (Palmyra)
“If
a charity applied for a specific amount of money, we
will certainly try to
satisfy that request,” Hudson explained. “If they did not
designate a certain amount, our board will review the results of this
year’s
festival in mid-December and settle on an equitable share for each organization.
“Our first goal is to produce another successful Christmas Market. As a
non-profit
organization, our Foundation’s next goal is to share that success with
area charities that benefit those in need within and around Carlinville.”
