The Value of Sponsorship

The Value of Sponsorship The Carlinville Christmas Market Foundation is an independent 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. Its board of directors receives no money. It has no employees and relies entirely on unpaid volunteers to carry out its sole mission -- to plan, organize, and produce the Christmas Market festival.

The cost of producing the festival far exceeds the amount of income generated by ($1) tent admission tickets, booth fees from vendors, a small share of proceeds generated by designated Market participants, and a modest advertising grant from the state.

The enabling financial force behind the Christmas Market is the generosity of businesses, merchants, organizations, and individuals in Carlinville – as well as the ongoing support of city government and the Macoupin County Board. Without their collective cash and in-kind contributions, the Market would have to fold up its tent, literally and figuratively, bringing to an end what has become a holiday tradition and one of the biggest revenue- producing events in the history of Carlinville and Macoupin County.

Some corporate and business sponsors contribute to the Christmas Market even though it has no direct benefit for their businesses. Many individuals and organizations contribute even though they, too, know that they reap no financial reward from doing so. They do it because the festival offers everyone a chance to have a wholesome, fun-filled holiday celebration . . . because it attracts visitors from all over the state of Illinois and many neighboring states, visitors who will come back at other times of the year to enjoy our town again . . . because it puts Carlinville in the spotlight and generates recognition that we deserve . . . and because it helps to improve our quality of life.
